How Do I Remove The Need For An OS Password At Windows Startup And From Waking From Sleep?

With the steps provided below, we are going to:

  • Set a password that consists of nothing (blank), and then …
  • Set that this password of nothing, is to never expire.

Please do the following:
 
  1. From the Windows Start Menu, select the Windows Settings Gear icon.
  2. Select Accounts.
  3. Note if whether it is a Microsoft account (complete to steps 4-5) or a local account (go to step 6).
  4. If it’s a Microsoft account, select Sign in with a local account instead.
  5. When prompted for a password, leave it blank.
  6. If it’s a local account, at left, select Sign-in options.
  7. Select Password.
  8. If you only see an Add button skip to step 17, otherwise select Change.
  9. Enter the Current password.
  10. Select Next.
  11. Leave the Password field blank.
  12. Leave the New password field blank.
  13. Leave the Confirm password field blank.
  14. Select Next.
  15. Select Finish.
  16. Close the Windows Settings window.
  17. Right click on the Windows Start Menu and select Run.
  18. In the Open box, type lusrmgr.msc (that is – all lowercase: lima, uniform, sierra, romeo, mike, golf, romeo, ., mike, sierra, charlie).
  19. Select OK.
  20. In the left pane, select Users.
  21. In the middle pane, double click/tap the user account for the device, for example, ISeriesUser, TDG13-1907… , etc.
  22. Ensure that there is a check in the box for Password never expires.
  23. If necessary, select Apply.
  24. Select OK.
  25. Close the lusrmgr window.

  • Ensure that when a device wakes up from sleep, that the user will not have to click anything or have to sign in

Please do the following:
 
  1. Right click on the Windows Start Menu and select Run.
  2. In the Open box, type gpedit.msc (that is – all lowercase: gulf, papa, echo, delta, india, tango, ., mike, sierra, charlie).
  3. Select OK.
  4. In the upper right corner, select the Maximize Window button.
  5. In the left pane, under Computer Configuration, select the carrot mark > to the left of Administrative Templates.
  6. In the left pane, select the carrot mark > to the left of System.
  7. In the left pane, select the carrot mark >to the left of Power Management.
  8. In the left pane, select Sleep Settings.
  9. Double click Require a password when a computer wakes (plugged in).
  10. Select the Disabled radio button.
  11. Select Apply.
  12. Select OK.
  13. Double click Require a password when a computer wakes (on battery).
  14. Select the Disabled radio button.
  15. Select Apply.
  16. Select OK.
  17. Close the Local Group Policy Editor window.
  18. Reboot the computer for the changes to take effect.
